MERRAG operates an extensive two-way radio communications system. The system consists of over twenty hand-held two-way radios located in the many enclaves of Montecito. These numerous radios are operated by strategically located trained MERRAG members.

This system is further enhanced by a radio "repeater." The MERRAG repeater is located high on a Montecito hilltop that has a clear view of our entire area. All MERRAG radio communications are relayed through this repeater so that no communications are ever lost. No MERRAG radio carrier is ever out of touch.

During an emergency the Disaster Operations Center (DOC) is enabled at Montecito Fire District Station One. All communications on the MERRAG radio system are monitored at this point. The Monticito Fire District dispatch center monitors the flow of radio communications on the MERRAG two-way radio system.
